  • Learn to Manage Stress. Breathing exercises, meditation and other techniques may help.
  • Get Enough Rest-Get enough sleep to awake and feel refreshed.
  • Get Plenty of Exercise-Try to get 30 minutes or more of moderate exercise each day.
  • Eat Healthy Foods-Limit sugar, sodium and fatty foods.
  • Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and whole-grain foods.
  • Take Time for you! Take breaks and relax.

Making your job as a Caregiver easier:

  • Physically-using proper techniques and equipment can make some tasks much easier
  • Mentally-Learning to plan ahead and use time efficiently is vital.
  • Emotionally-Caregivers can easily feel isolated and frustrated. Understanding the challenges of caregiving is the first step in meeting them.

Know when to Get Help:

  • The client's condition gets worse.
  • Your duties are interfering with your life too much.
  • You don't feel good about yourself or caregiving.
  • You are overeating, abusing alcohol or other drugs, or risking your health in other ways.
  • You feel exhausted most of the time.
